An in-depth look at the Spider Tour S Long putter played by the 2026 DP World India Championship winner.

The Spanish player’s long-shafted putter is the result of a four-to-five-month fitting process, culminating in anadjustment to the shaft lie angle, a high-stability configuration and a total weight of 870 grams. Since being fine-tuned at Wentworth, Eugenio Chacarra has seen a notable improvement in his DP World Tour putting statistics.

October 20, 2026 – Eugenio Chacarra’s victory at the 2026 DP World India Championship has brought thespotlight onto one of the key elements of his game: TaylorMade Golf’s Spider Tour S Long putter. Beyond the winitself, the evolution of his putting statistics over recent weeks highlights the impact that the right combination ofequipment, technical adjustments and targeted practice can have.

His current putter setup is the result of an adaptation process lasting between four and five months, according to AlexMarine, TaylorMade’s representative on the DP World Tour. Although the brand had already worked with Chacarraduring his university career, this time the aim was to take the fitting process further and find a setup that met his needs interms of alignment, stability and feel at impact.

The Spanish player began using the Spider Tour S Long at the Nexo Championship. He subsequently continued workingon the adjustments before arriving at Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship, where Alex Marine and James Holleyconducted a more comprehensive fitting session that identified a key issue: the putter was too upright.

Three degrees flatter to improve alignment

With the original setup, Chacarra tended to aim left and close the putter toe in an attempt to direct the ball towards hisintended line. This movement made his stroke less consistent and led to inconsistencies in speed control.

The solution was to reduce the lie angle from 79° to 76°, making the shaft angle three degrees flatter. With the newadjustment, the player was better able to position his eye line in relation to the ball and align the putter face morenaturally.

The combination of the Spider Tour S head geometry, its stability and a total weight of 870 grams made it possible toconfigure a putter with a high moment of inertia (MOI), tailored to the player’s stroke mechanics and the feel he waslooking for from the Pure Roll insert technology.

However, the work did not end with the equipment. His stroke mechanics also needed to improve. Chacarra tended to lifthis head immediately after impact and make a short backswing. During the sessions, Marine even held his head in placewhile he practised to help him keep it still. The exercise encouraged a straighter putter path, with a longer back-and-through motion.

Following the Wentworth session, the Spaniard continued working on the GRASP platform to consolidate these changesand transfer them into competition.

Statistics confirm the improvement

DP World Tour data show a significant transformation in Chacarra’s putting performance. According to adjusted StrokesGained statistics, he ranked 78th in putting for the 2026 DP World Tour season up to the Irish Open.

After introducing his current Spider setup at Wentworth, he rose to third in putting over the four-tournament periodanalysed, gaining an average of more than +1.5 strokes per round in this category.

The improvement is particularly evident on mid-range putts. In the five tournaments before the change, Chacarra holedjust 11% of his attempts from between 1.83 and 3.66 metres, a downward trend that limited his ability to convert scoringopportunities. Following the adjustment, he raised that percentage to 48%, holing 37 percentage points more than beforeand outperforming the field-wide conversion rate over the same period by 23 percentage points.

He has also improved on long putts. From distances of more than 9.14 metres, he leaves 70% of his putts within 91centimetres of the hole. This distance-control accuracy has helped reduce his three-putt rate from beyond 30 feet by fivepercentage points.

Taken together, the figures reflect three complementary improvements: a greater ability to hole mid-range putts, betterspeed control on long putts and fewer costly mistakes on the green.

The victory in India confirms the competitive value of this progress. The Spider Tour S Long alone does not explainChacarra’s win, but the combination of fitting, technical adjustments and targeted practice provides a clear example ofhow equipment tailored to the player can contribute to improved performance at the highest level.
