I have always enjoyed playing in Valderrama, one of my favourite courses. I feel very comfortable there, and after three near-misses I finally did it!\u201d, <\/em>says<strong> Sergio Garc\u00eda.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After three consecutive runner-up spots in the Volvo Masters (2004-2006), he finished 11th\u00a0in the inaugural Andaluc\u00eda Masters (2010) and proceeded to win it in 2011.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>His strategy when negotiating the prestigious Robert Trent Jones layout is simple:\u00a0<em>\u201cPatience is key in Valderrama. You need to be fully concentrated and keep the errors to the minimum. You must respect this course or it will turn against you at any moment. One of the things I like most is that it allows you to use all the clubs in the bag.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI have great memories of Valderrama. Winning the Andaluc\u00eda Masters in 2011 was awesome; it was a very special victory because winning on this course always adds something. I will never forget the third round with Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez, both playing well under spectacular sunshine with all the public around us.\u00a0<\/em><em>Miguel certainly didn\u2019t make it easy for me.\u00a0<\/em><em>He played fantastic all week and forced me to an up-and-down on the last to avoid the extra holes. It was a great pressure moment.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Sergio Garc\u00eda<\/strong> set up his charitable foundation named after himself in 2002 <em>\u201cfor the purpose of contributing to the social inclusion of economically deprived children and youth, through social assistance benefits and the practice of sport as free-time activity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Sergio-Garcia-volvera-a-Valderrama.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-43462\" src=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Sergio-Garcia-volvera-a-Valderrama.jpg\" alt=\"Sergio-Garcia-volvera-a-Valderrama\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Sergio-Garcia-volvera-a-Valderrama.jpg 640w, https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Sergio-Garcia-volvera-a-Valderrama-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following year, the <strong>Sergio Garc\u00eda Foundation<\/strong> and the <strong>Deporte y Desaf\u00edo Foundation<\/strong> \u2013chaired by <strong>Jorge P\u00e9rez de Leza<\/strong>\u2013 came together with the objective of introducing adaptive golf in Spain, with the support and supervision of the Spanish Golf Federation as well as the Autonomic Federations. They developed together a twofold programme aimed, firstly, at making golf accessible to people with disabilities, thus helping them to be socially integrated. The second aim was to promote adaptive golf throughout the whole of Spain by means of specific training courses directed to golf teaching professionals interested in learning the techniques that enable them to cope with the various disabilities. These professionals ensure the continuity of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Adaptive Golf Courses<\/strong> were conducted during seven years\u00a0in Barcelona, Madrid, Castell\u00f3n, Asturias, M\u00e1laga, Mallorca, Sevilla, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pamplona, La Coru\u00f1a, C\u00e1diz, Salamanca and Tarragona,\u00a0with the participation of 821 pupils and 321 professionals.\u00a0From 2010 to 2014, The Sergio Garc\u00eda Foundation and the Spanish Golf Federation continued working together for the promotion of adaptive golf by holding an annual course.\u00a0Thanks to this project, 982 pupils have had access to golf and 445 professionals have been trained.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The <strong>Sergio Garc\u00eda Foundation<\/strong> supports, on a regular or an occasional basis, a large variety of NGOs and humanitarian associations.<em>\u201cI thank God for having given me a gift for the sport of golf. I have been very fortunate; golf and life have given me a lot and I owe it to society. I wanted to give back, so with the support of my family I decided to start a foundation in order to help disadvantaged persons or people with problems.
