The word ‘GOLF’ will take center stage on FC Barcelona’s shirt for El Clásico against Real Madrid on 25 October, but its presence has nothing to do with golf equipment.

The logo belongs to GOLF WANG, the streetwear label founded by American artist Tyler, The Creator, whose collaboration with Nike, Spotify and Barça brings football, music and fashion together in a new cross-cultural initiative.

October 16, 2026 – The word ‘GOLF’, which will appear on the front of the FC Barcelona shirt in the upcoming Clásico against Real Madrid, may cause some confusion, particularly among fans of our sport. However, its presence does not signal a new golf equipment brand or a collaboration directly linked to the game. It is GOLF WANG, the fashion label created by Tyler, The Creator, which is at the heart of a new commercial and cultural initiative by the Catalan club in partnership with Spotify and Nike.

The special shirt will be unveiled by Barça Female on Saturday 24, October, in their Liga F match against Granada, and will be worn by the men’s first team on Sunday 25 October, when they face Real Madrid. The initiative forms part of Spotify and FC Barcelona’s strategy to connect football with leading figures in contemporary music and culture, extending the reach of their collaborations beyond the pitch.

GOLF WANG: streetwear, not golf equipment

GOLF WANG was founded in 2011 by Tyler, The Creator, the stage name of American musician, producer and designer Tyler Gregory Okonma. The brand forms part of his creative universe and has established itself in the international streetwear scene, with a distinctive visual identity characterised by bold colours, graphic prints, retro references and a playful take on sportswear.

Its name is linked to Odd Future Wolf Gang, the music collective with which Tyler rose to prominence. The wordplay behind GOLF WANG reflects that artistic identity rather than any specialisation in the sport of golf.

Therefore, although the word GOLF stands out in the logo that Barça will wear, GOLF WANG is not a golf-specialist brand, nor is it a manufacturer of clubs, balls, technical footwear or clothing specifically designed for playing on the course. Its business focuses on streetwear, design and products associated with the culture represented by its founder.

An 11-piece collection with Nike and FC Barcelona

According to Nike’s press release, published on 15 October, the Nike × FC Barcelona × GOLF WANGcollaboration comprises 11 pieces that combine the identity of the Catalan club with Tyler, The Creator’s creative universe. The collection includes the special shirt, along with various garments and accessories inspired by sport and streetwear.

The collection incorporates elements characteristic of GOLF WANG and brings its aesthetic to products associated with Barça. The aim is to connect the club’s heritage and identity with new generations and cultural communities around the world, making use of football’s international reach and the influence of music and fashion.

The initiative also extends to Barcelona with (The) Creator’s Àgora, a cultural space launched by Nike, FC Barcelona and Spotify at number 4 Carrer de Boters, in the Gothic Quarter. From 15 to 25 October, the venue is hosting art, photography, music and local creative activities linked to the project.

Spotify hands creative control to Tyler, The Creator

The FC Barcelona and Spotify announcements highlight a distinctive feature of this collaboration: for the first time in this series of shirt-logo takeovers, the guest artist has full creative control over the campaign’s associated visual and audiovisual content.

Tyler, The Creator follows in the footsteps of artists such as Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, Coldplay, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo, whose names or creative identities have also featured on the front of Barça shirts in previous initiatives linked to Spotify.

The partnership goes beyond the kit itself. On 24 October, Spotify will host the Copa de Golf in Barcelona, an event combining music, football and fashion, with performances and DJ sets linked to the local scene and the GOLF WANG creative universe. In addition, the special shirt will feature in KONAMI’s eFootball video game.

As for the commemorative shirts, the club has announced a limited edition of 1,899 units, a reference to the year of its foundation, alongside very limited runs of shirts signed by the players and the artist himself.

Sport as a platform for fashion and culture

From a sports industry perspective, the collaboration reflects how major organisations and brands are seeking to broaden their audiences through partnerships that connect different communities. A shirt worn by a club with FC Barcelona’s international profile thus becomes a platform for showcasing a creative identity from outside football, generating new products and creating experiences around a high-profile sporting event.

For Nike, the initiative strengthens the connection between football and other cultural expressions; for Spotify, it extends a partnership strategy with Barça that brings together music, entertainment and sport; and for GOLF WANG, it provides an international platform to introduce its aesthetic to a new audience.
