{"id":18170,"date":"2013-12-08T22:40:47","date_gmt":"2013-12-08T21:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/labs.100x100.net\/mygolfway\/ping-jimenez-reconquers-hong-kong-with-the-g25-driver-and-s55-irons\/"},"modified":"2013-12-08T22:40:47","modified_gmt":"2013-12-08T21:40:47","slug":"ping-jimenez-reconquers-hong-kong-with-the-g25-driver-and-s55-irons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygolfway.com\/en\/ping-jimenez-reconquers-hong-kong-with-the-g25-driver-and-s55-irons\/","title":{"rendered":"Ping &#8211; Jim\u00e9nez reconquers Hong Kong with the G25 driver and S55 irons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygolfway.com\/ping-jimenez-reconquista-hong-kong-con-el-driver-g25-y-los-hierros-s55\/maj-jim%c2%8eenez-campe%c2%97n-hong-kong-2-2013getty-images\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12118\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"MAJ-Jim\u008eenez-campe\u0097n-Hong-Kong-2-2013\u00a9Getty-Images\" src=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2013\/12\/MAJ-Jim\u008eenez-campe\u0097n-Hong-Kong-2-2013\u00a9Getty-Images.jpg\" alt=\"MAJ-Jim\u008eenez-campe\u0097n-Hong-Kong-2-2013\u00a9Getty-Images\" width=\"640\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>December 8, 2013 &#8211;<\/strong> The <strong><a title=\"www.ping.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ping.com\">Ping<\/a><\/strong> staff player <strong>Miguel Angel Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong> broke his own record as The <strong>European Tour<\/strong>\u2019s oldest champion by winning the <strong>Hong Kong Open<\/strong> for a fourth time in stunning style.<\/p>\n<p>Aged 49 years and 337 days, Jim\u00e9nez used his experience and his golf bag full of Ping equipment (the <strong>G25 driver and fairway woods<\/strong>, the new <strong>S55 irons<\/strong>, two <strong>Tour Gorge wedges<\/strong> and the <strong>Scottsdale Pickemup<\/strong> putter) to devastating effect in a play-off with Thailand\u2019s <strong>Prom Meesawat<\/strong> and Welshman <strong>Stuart Manley<\/strong>, holing a slick 18-foot putt for birdie at the first extra hole to add to the titles he won here at Hong Kong Golf Club in 2005, 2008 and last year.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day he birdied the 17<sup>th<\/sup> and made a fine up-and-down at the last for a four under par 66, which left him tied on 12 under with Prom Meesawat, who went one better with a 65.<\/p>\n<p>Late drama then ensued when Qualifying School graduate Manley holed his chip for a three on the 18<sup>th<\/sup> to join the play-off, but his joy was cut short when Jim\u00e9nez calmly rolled in a birdie putt to claim his 20<sup>th<\/sup> European Tour title.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThis is very sweet,\u201d<\/em> said the <strong>Miguel Angel Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>. <em>\u201cI love this place and I love this golf course. Holing that putt to win the play-off makes it even sweeter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWinning a tournament is always tough. I three-putted the 15<\/em><em><sup>th<\/sup><\/em><em> and then I missed a good birdie chance on the 16<\/em><em><sup>th<\/sup><\/em><em>, so I knew I had to make at least one birdie on the last two holes. I never stopped telling myself, just take it hole by hole, stay calm, live the moment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s been a hard season because I missed the first few months when I broke my leg. I worked very hard to come back from that. I work very hard in the gym every day with stretching and cardio. And the main thing is my head.
