September 8, 2025 – Rory McIlroy<\/strong> claimed his second Irish Open<\/strong> title and 20th DP World Tour<\/strong> title in epic style by holing a 28-foot eagle putt on the 72nd hole to force a play-off and eventually win on the third play-off hole against the Swedish player Joakim Lagergren.<\/p>\n

Rory holed a staggering 160 feet of putts with his Spider Tour X putter<\/strong> during the final round to keep him firmly in contention. This week also marked the first week he put TaylorMade\u2019s new MG5 wedges in play<\/strong>, leading him to straight to the winner\u2019s circle.<\/p>\n

He has signed rounds of 71, 66, 68 and 66 during the event played at The K Club<\/strong>, in Straffan (Co. Kildare, Ireland), for a total of 271 strokes, 17 under par, and winning a prize of 873.463,74\u20ac.<\/p>\n

TaylorMade\u2019s new fully forged MG5 wedges<\/strong> have now claimed back-to-back wins following Brooke Henderson<\/strong>\u2019s win at the CPKC Women\u2019s Open<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the start of the season, and with his focus directly on Augusta, Rory switched to a 60\u00b0 low bounce lob wedge bent to 61\u00b0 ahead of his first start of the season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am<\/strong>. That one degree paid off immediately as he won at Pebble Beach and then went on to capture his second title at THE PLAYERS<\/strong> and secure the career Grand Slam in the Masters of Augusta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The conversation of making this now crucial adjustment was centered around two areas of Rory\u2019s game: turf interaction, specifically on tighter grass, and the 40-to-60-yard wedge shot. Rory simply wanted to explore how to make those shots easier.<\/p>\n
