Otaegui had an opportunity to force a play-off but could not convert his eagle putt; the resulting birdie saw him finish alone in second place on 14-under ahead of Cockerill and Du Plessis, who were a further shot back.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWhat a day,\u201d<\/em> <strong>Pablo Larraz\u00e1bal<\/strong> said. <em>\u201cI knew that I had a low one in my bag and that\u2019s what I did. I didn\u2019t make any putts on the first three days, but I told my girlfriend she had to choose my clothing for the (winning) pictures.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am glad I got the seventh title at home. I live an hour and 15 minutes up the road and it is very special to win here in Spain, in front of a few friends of mine, and obviously in front of my girlfriend and my brother.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The thrilling finish on Sunday marked a triumphant week for an event that had delivered moments of high drama, with the INFINITUM Lakes course \u2013 and its water-peppered holes \u2013 a fitting layout to host the DP World Tour\u2019s first visit to Spain in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The INFINITUM greenkeeping staff worked tirelessly to maintain the Lakes course in prime condition for the tournament, with a number of local volunteers ensuring the resort\u2019s first staging of a DP World Tour event remained a success.<\/p>\n<p>The par-70 layout \u2013 which normally plays as a par 71 \u2013 features the threat of water on 14 of its 18 holes, with huge, sprawling greens and cavernous bunkers adding to the test. And although water was the course\u2019s chief defence, players were given the opportunity to attack with a number of clever, short par fours and the layout\u2019s two par fives coming late in the round at the 16th and 18th.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Larrazabal-INFINITUM-tee-shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-124562\" src=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Larrazabal-INFINITUM-tee-shot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Larrazabal-INFINITUM-tee-shot.jpg 640w, https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Larrazabal-INFINITUM-tee-shot-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>INFINITUM chief business officer, <strong>Agust\u00edn Garc\u00eda Pascual<\/strong>, said: <em>\u201cIt was a fitting end to what was a great week and we were honoured to welcome the DP World Tour. Pablo Larraz\u00e1bal\u2019s attacking play ensured the tournament enjoyed a thrilling finish and the Lakes course is the perfect platform for risk-reward golf and the drama of top-level tournament play.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur greenkeeping staff worked so hard to present the course in immaculate condition every day and as a result, we had the course in incredible form. To have the winner and runner-up from Spain was a dream ending to the event but whoever claimed the victory, the tournament would have been a great success with an international field that was fitting of its status.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To add to the success of the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain \u2013 which carried a $2million prize fund (\u20ac1.8million) \u2013 it was also confirmed that INFINITUM would host this year\u2019s Qualifying School Final Stage from November 11-16 after signing a three-year deal with the DP World Tour.<\/p>\n<p>The six-day Qualifying School finale will be played across two championship layouts at INFINITUM, with 156 hopefuls competing in a bid to fulfil their DP World Tour dreams. The Hills course delivers an all-together different test to the Lakes with towering pine trees congesting its fairways and elevated tees serving up wonderful views out to the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Infinitum-Larrazabal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-124561\" src=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Infinitum-Larrazabal.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Infinitum-Larrazabal.jpg 640w, https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Infinitum-Larrazabal-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>INFINITUM had previously staged the qualifying showpiece from 2017 to 2019 before the event was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to celebrate its return to the Costa Dorada venue, former winners were invited to share memories of their success and the life-changing effects of winning their playing rights for the DP World Tour.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt was a life-changing experience,\u201d<\/em> said Denmark\u2019s <strong>Benjamin Poke<\/strong>, who was the last winner of Qualifying School\u2019s Final Stage at INFINITUM in 2019. <em>\u201cYou are playing for your card and your future. Qualifying School can be daunting, but you must look at it as a fantastic opportunity.\u00a0<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI have great memories of that week at INFINITUM. Qualifying School changed my life.
