\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>June 22, 2020 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>A thrilling new era awaits at <strong>Empord\u00e0 Golf Resort<\/strong> from this summer with the Spanish venue undergoing a major redevelopment, transforming it into one of the premier 36-hole golfing destinations in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The resort\u2019s new ownership and management team has unveiled multi-million euro plans to invest significantly across all facilities, with its two 18-hole golf courses, 86-room hotel and leisure facilities all receiving a major overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>The work on the hotel \u2013 which will reopen on July 1 \u2013 and golf courses is being overseen by Empord\u00e0\u2019s new general manager <strong>Miguel Girb\u00e9s<\/strong>, with the first phase of the redevelopment programme due to be completed in the coming months.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-102195\" src=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Emporda-Golf-Hotel-terrace.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hundreds-wordpress-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/mygolfway\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Emporda-Golf-Hotel-terrace.jpg 640w, \/><\/p>\n<p>Girb\u00e9s, who has previously worked in leading roles at Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf and Spa and PGA Catalunya, said: <em>\u201cWith numerous facilities including two outstanding golf courses, Empord\u00e0 has the potential to be rated alongside the very best golf venues in Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s a name that\u2019s highly regarded and well known within golfing circles, and it presents us with the perfect foundations for our ambitious project.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe new owners have some big plans for the future and I\u2019m confident that, with the level of investment that is taking place, we will quickly transform Empord\u00e0 Golf Resort into one of the most enticing facilities in Europe for travelling golfers.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Located 30 minutes from <strong>Girona<\/strong> in the heart of the <strong>Costa Brava<\/strong> region, <strong>Empord\u00e0 Golf Resort<\/strong>\u2019s impressive facilities include two 18-hole championship courses \u2013 <strong>Empord\u00e0 Links<\/strong> and <strong>Empord\u00e0 Forest<\/strong>, both designed world-renowned architect <strong>Robert von Hagge<\/strong> \u2013 an 86-room hotel and an array of lifestyle amenities.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the extensive renovation plans, both courses are undergoing significant investment to elevate the golf experience being offered to members and guests, with work being undertaken including the reconstruction of all bunkers using the <strong>Better Billy Bunker<\/strong> method, a comprehensive tree clearance programme and purchase of new greenkeeping equipment to improve the all-round condition of tees, fairways and greens.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>Hotel Empord\u00e0 Golf<\/strong> has been transformed with a modern and contemporary new look by the <strong>architects <em>LaGranja<\/em><\/strong>, with the bedrooms, communal areas and restaurant all being redesigned and renovated.<\/p>\n<p>New head chef <strong>Vicen\u00e7 Fajardo<\/strong> has been brought in to create a new restaurant concept throughout Empord\u00e0\u2019s dining areas, while an outdoor swimming being installed to help guests relax after a hard day on the fairways.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-102196\"
