New ECCO line furthers brand’s leadership in Hybrid and Natural Motion categories
November 1, 2011 – Danish brand ECCO – maker of a very comfortable, stylish and technically advanced footwear for golf – announces its 2012 men’s golf collection, highlighted by several new introductions in the Street hybrid and Natural Motion categories. The range will be widely available across Europe from spring 2012.
Mirroring the foot skeleton and using the body’s natural system for absorbing impact, BIOM Hybrid combines the award-winning Golf Street outsole with groundbreaking ECCO Natural Motion technology. The result is the first and only hybrid model that’s also a true performance golf shoe.
“Golf Street literally created the hybrid category, and it all began with the simple notion that a golf shoe can be much more than a golf shoe,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “That philosophy along with our foot-first approach to shoemaking and decades of research has now led to the phenomenal BIOM Hybrid.”
Built around a completely anatomical last developed by scanning more than 2,500 feet, BIOM Hybrid has an all-day outsole with 100 moulded TPU traction bars. This creates more than 800 traction angles, providing exceptional grip and stability on nearly any surface.
BIOM Hybrid also features yak leather uppers that are naturally soft, smooth and breathable, yet three times stronger than other leathers; ECCO Hydromax treated leather uppers for superb weather protection; a triple-component insole unit to enhance cushion and performance; direct-injected midsole with flexible arch support and a stabilization bar specifically designed to enhance the golf swing.
Additional breakthroughs for the new season include:
Golf Street: The game’s most admired and desired shoe is now available in two new styles. One is a fashion-forward design combining performance textiles with soft leather on the uppers. The next is a luxury version crafted from reptile printed leathers that perfectly complements the Golf Street camel leather model.
BIOM Golf: Crafted using decades of ECCO research into the human foot, the first Natural Motion golf shoe is now available in a Gore-Tex version and new colors in the Hydromax leather category. It takes advantage of the foot’s system for absorbing impact while bringing players closer to the ground for unmatched feel and traction.
Cool III: Designed to turn heads, Cool III is has all-new upper patterns in the Gore-Tex, Hydromax and Premier leather categories. A textile lining showcases an open mesh that is extremely breathable while a low-profile, direct-injected midsole offers superb torsional support and stability.
The ECCO men’s golf collection is worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Graeme McDowell, Fred Couples, Thomas Bjorn, Stuart Appleby, Thongchai Jaidee, Aaron Baddeley and many others.
